Cumberland – Philip S. McGrath, D.M.D., 97, of Little Pond County Road, died Monday, June 19, 2017, at home surrounded by his loving family.  He was the beloved husband of Ruth (Ulles) McGrath.  Dr. & Mrs. McGrath had been married for fifty-four years.

Born in Cumberland, a son of the late Theron and Grace (Fisk) McGrath, he had been a lifelong resident of the town.

Dr. McGrath was a dentist for sixty-two years, operating his practice in Pawtucket, retiring in 2012.  He was a graduate of Tufts University, where he earned a B.S. in Dentistry and a D.M.D.

He was a member of the Cumberland Lions Club for over sixty years; a member of the Pawtucket Dental Society; a member of the Royal Order of Jesters; a member of Lafayette Lodge #47, F. & A.M.; and a former member of Unity Lodge #34, F. & A.M. Cumberland.  He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.

Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, Philip S. McGrath, Jr. of Cumberland, and Christopher S. McGrath of Burrillville; two granddaughters, Kerri A. McGrath and Veronique N. McGrath; and one great granddaughter, Elliana C. Schwab.  He was the brother of the late Theron McGrath, Theodora Brayman, Leila McGrath, and Jessie Gibbons.

His funeral and burial in Swan Point Cemetery, Providence, will be private.  Visiting hours are respectfully omitted. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory to the Shriner’s Hospitals for Children, 2900 N. Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607, would be appreciated.  Arrangements with Bellows Funeral Chapel, 160 River Road, Lincoln.
