Lincoln – Paul M. DeCotis, 72, of Timberland Drive, died Tuesday, July 11, 2017, at Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston. He was the beloved husband of the late Joan M. (Godin) DeCotis.
Born in Newport, a son of the late Henry and Rita (Roach) DeCotis, he had lived in Cumberland for many years before moving to Lincoln twelve years ago.
Mr. DeCotis worked as an Insurance Adjuster for Travelers Insurance, worked as an Independent Insurance Agent for Morton Smith, Inc., and became a Wholesale Insurance Broker at Alexander & Alexander, and Annexco, Boston. He later became President of Castle Insurance of Rhode Island, now DeCotis Specialty Insurance, retiring in 2015.
He was a graduate of Providence College, Class of 1967, and volunteered and helped fundraise on behalf of P.C. Alumni Association, and was a Golden Friar. He was the President of the Joan M. DeCotis Foundation, to benefit lung cancer research.
An avid golfer, he was a member of Kirkbrae Country Club, Lincoln, and Wanumetonomy Golf & Country Club, Middletown. He was a member of Hazards Beach Club, Newport.
He was a longtime communicant of Saint John Vianney Church, Cumberland, and was a communicant of Saint Ambrose Church, Albion.
He is survived by his daughter, Kristen M. Liguori, and her husband Ralph, of Cumberland; his son, Thomas J. DeCotis, and his wife Cristina, of Hingham, Massachusetts; two sisters, Lorie Paduano of Camp Hill, Pennsylvania, and Patricia McCooey of Jamestown; two brothers, William DeCotis of Florida, and Henry DeCotis, Jr. of Newport; and four grandchildren, Nicholas R. Liguori, Allison M. Liguori, Jonathan R. Liguori, and Reid W. DeCotis.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, July 15, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. in Saint Ambrose Church, 191 School Street, Albion. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Cumberland. Relatives and friends are invited, and may call Friday from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Bellows Funeral Chapel, 160 River Road, Lincoln. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory to the Joan DeCotis Foundation,95 Crosswynds Drive, Saunderstown, R.I. 02874 would be appreciated.
