Manville – Maurice L. Ricard, 88, of Rutland Street, died Friday, August 25, 2017, at the Philip Hulitar Inpatient Center, Providence. He was the beloved husband of Mildred R. (Whalen) Ricard.
Born in Woonsocket, a son of the late Leonidas and Helen (Dextraze) Ricard, he was a lifelong resident of Manville, and had summered for many years at Cedar Tree Point, Warwick.
Mr. Ricard was owner of Leo Ricard & Sons Roofing, Manville, for many years, retiring in 1988. He was also owner of MPM Realty, Manville.
He was a member of the Manville Sportsmen’s Rod & Gun Club; the Sayles Hill Rod & Gun Club, the Woonsocket Elks Lodge #850, Cercle Laurier, the Italian Workingman’s Club, the Alphonse Yelle Post #9, American Legion, the D.A.V. of Woonsocket, and the Enrico Caruso Club. He was a communicant of Saint James Church, Manville. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.
Besides his wife, he is survived by two brothers, Arthur Ricard and Norman Ricard, both of Manville. He was the father of the late Patrick M. Ricard. The family would like to thank his caregivers, especially Barbara Reilly.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. in Saint James Church, 33 Division Street, Manville. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted. His burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory to Saint James Church, 33 Division Street, Manville, R.I. 02838, or to the Shriner’s Hosptials for Children, Attn: Office of Development, 2900 Rocky Point Dr., Tampa, FL 33607, would be appreciated.
