Smithfield – Lewis Emerson “Chick” Antone, 81, of Smithfield, retired Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and Corporate Treasurer of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Rhode Island, passed away peacefully Saturday, October 14, 2017 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of 59 years of Patricia A. (DeSocio) Antone.

   Born at home in Central Falls, he was the second son of the late George and Florence (Smith) Antone.

   At age 17, during the Korean War, he joined the United States Marine Corps. He also served in the United States Army and the Rhode Island National Guard. He received three Honorable Discharges.

   A graduate of Bryant College with a B.S. in Business Administration, he also graduated from the URI Executive Development Program. At the time of his retirement in 1997, he was an officer and member of the Board of Directors of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of RI, Delta Dental of RI, HMO of RI, and Legal Care RI. He served on the Board of the RI Chapter of the Financial Executives Institute.

   Included in his many interests, he was an antique car enthusiast including his pride and joy, a 1936 Packard. He also enjoyed coin collecting and golfing. Most of all, the time spent with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren was the most cherished.

   In addition to his beloved wife, he is survived by his loving children with whom he was so very proud, David Antone (Tricia) of Smithfield, Lee Antone (Laurie) of Easton, MA, Timothy Antone (Mary) of South Attleboro, MA, Christopher Antone (John) of Cranston, and Alissa McNamara (Kerry) of Harrisville; his loving sisters, Sr. Therèse Antone, RSM of Newport and  Patricia Knight of Bristol; his loving brothers, George Antone of Newport and Richard Antone of Narragansett; his beloved 13 grandchildren; his beloved three great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Peter Antone and Alice Antone.

   His funeral will be held Monday, October 23 at 8:30 A.M. from Bellows Funeral Chapel, 160 River Road, Lincoln with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 A.M. in St. Jude’s Church, 301 Front Street, Lincoln. Burial, with military honors, will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
