John E. Denio

Lincoln – John E. Denio, 82, of Lincoln passed away peacefully Sunday, April 9, 2017 at the Philip Hulitar Inpatient Center, Providence. He was the husband of the late Marilyn J. (Matson) Denio.

   Born in Big Moose, NY, a son of the late Harley E. and Doris M. (Sullivan) Denio, he had lived in upstate NY for most of his life before moving to Lincoln in August 2014.

   Mr. Denio was a NY State Trooper for 22 years (1956-1978), and later, he was a Supervising Investigator for the NY State Department of Insurance Fraud for 10 years before retiring in 1999.

   He was a member of the Association of former NY State Troopers and the Elks.

   He served as an MP in the U.S. Army during peacetime.

   He is survived by two sons, John S. Denio and his wife, Laurie of Lincoln and Michael J. Denio and his wife, Judy of Fleming Island, FL; three sisters, Maryellen, Deborah and Martha Denio, all of Old Forge, NY; one brother, James Denio of Tonawanda, NY; seven grandchildren, Stephen, Bethany, Lydia, and Will Denio, all of Lincoln and Zachary, Alex and Samantha Denio, all of Fleming Island, FL; and several nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.

   His Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, April 22 at 11:30 A.M. in St. Jude’s Church, 301 Front Street, Lincoln. His burial will be in Marathon, NY.
