Providence – Jerry A. Abatiello, 93, formerly of Providence, died Monday, January 29, 2018, at the Holiday Retirement Home, Manville. He was the beloved husband of the late Anna (Foti) Abatiello.
Born in Barrington, a son of the late Antonio and Esther (DeStefano) Abatiello, he had lived in Providence for many years, before moving to Lincoln in 2006.
Mr. Abatiello worked as a Mail Handler at the Providence Post Office for many years before retiring. A U.S. Army veteran, he served during World War II. He was a communicant of Saint Jude Church, Lincoln.
He is survived by one daughter, Deborah A. Booth, and her husband Kenneth, of Lincoln; two sons, Jerry D. Abatiello of Montgomery, Alabama, and Steven M. Abatiello, and his wife Dale, of Rumford; nine grandchildren; one great granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Paul Abatiello, and the brother of the late Americo Abatiello, Quindine Abatiello, Louis Abatiello, Mary Boullard, Josephine Grant, and Nancy Bettencourt.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, February 3, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. in Saint Jude Church, 301 Front Street, Lincoln. Burial will follow in Saint Ann Cemetery, Cranston. Relatives and friends are invited, and may call Friday from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Bellows Funeral Chapel, 160 River Road, Lincoln. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory to Disabled American Veterans, PO Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250-0301 would be appreciated.
