Lincoln – Hannah M. (Kellett) Whitnall, 88, Leicester Drive, died Friday, July 14, 2017 at Miriam Hospital, Providence.  She was the beloved wife of the late Frederick Sandiford Whitnall.

Born in Tamaqua, Pennsylvania, a daughter of the late John T. and Mary Ann (Zimmerman) Kellett, she had lived in New York City, Brooklyn, Schenectady, N.Y., and Pawtucket, before moving to Lincoln fifty-five years ago.

Mrs. Whitnall was a graduate of Hunter College, New York City, the Salvation Army College for Officer Training Ministerial Hospital, New York, Brooklyn Methodist Hospital School of Nursing, Roger Williams College, and Rhode Island College.

Upon graduating, she worked as a Registered Nurse at St. Joseph Hospital, retiring in 1986.

She was a member and volunteer of the Salvation Army in New York City, Brooklyn, Pawtucket, and Providence Corps.  She was a member of the Methodist Hospital Alumnae, and the Salvation Army Medical Fellowship, where she served as Secretary for New England from 1970-1985.

She is survived by her daughter, Janine C. Whitnall of Lincoln; her sister Margaret Steele of Tamaqua, Pennsylvania; three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.  She was the sister of the late Beatrice Rodgers, Marie Hill, Betty Sherry, Emily Rodgers, Mabel Calder, Earl Kellett, Harry Kellett, William Kellett, Samuel Kellett, Howard Kellett, and John Kellett.

Her funeral service will be held Saturday, July 22, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. in Bellows Funeral Chapel, 160 River Road, Lincoln.  Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Park, Johnston.  Relatives and friends are invited, and may call Friday from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.  In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory to the Salvation Army, Providence Corps, 386 Broad Street, Providence, R.I. 02907 would be appreciated.
