Seekonk – Gloria G. McKinnon, formerly of Seekonk, died Thursday, November 9, 2017, at the Rhode Island Veterans Home, Bristol.

Born in Pawtucket, a daughter of the late Daniel F. McKinnon and Gloria (Glover) McKinnon Gray, and stepdaughter of the late Col. Russell A. Gray, Gloria called Germany, California, and Seekonk home before moving to Bristol.

Before retiring, Ms. McKinnon worked as a Medical Assistant to the staff at Sturdy Memorial Hospital, Attleboro.  As a U.S. Navy veteran, she served as a W.A.V.E. during World War II.  Ms. McKinnon attended Santa Rosa Junior College and the University of Connecticut, where she studied medicine.  She was an avid traveler, leaving friends across the country and the world.  Ms. McKinnon loved music, was an accomplished violinist, enjoyed reading and listening to music. 

She is survived by her sister, Lisle Ann Whiteley of Cumberland; her niece, Erin McKinnon of Pawtucket; her nephew, Brian McKinnon of Smithfield; and her cousin Terry Beaucage, and her husband Jean, of Seekonk.  She was the sister of the late Frederic M. McKinnon.  Additionally, Ms. McKinnon leaves cousins in Alabama and Missouri. 

Her funeral service will be held Friday, November 17, 2017 at 12 Noon in Bellows Funeral Chapel, 160 River Road, Lincoln.  Burial, with military honors will follow, in St. Francis Cemetery, Pawtucket.  Relatives and friends are invited, and may call prior to the service from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.  In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory to the RISPCA, 186 Amaral Street, Riverside, R.I. 02915.
