We are so sorry for your loss.
Gayle was a very special lady, loved by her students and staff at Wyoming Indian Schools! We will miss her greatly.

For my friend.......
WINGS
by Elaine Casteel
The wailing of the mourner's cry
breaks the dawning day,
Another soul departed and
was sent upon its way.
A Red Tail Hawk it circles,
ever high above the trees,
A symbol of a greater strength
and of a soul set free.
Let your heart be not heavy,
as I circle ever high,
For in your heart I live forever....
I never really die!

I remember Ms. Halladay as my Honors English teacher when I was in the 8th grade at Chinle Junior High School. She cared very deeply for the students, especially since many of them were Diné (or Navajo). I remember how she was quite stern with many of us, but also had a playfulness that was integrated into how we engaged with reading and analyzing different materials. She was one of the many teachers who supported my passion for learning and reminded me to continue striving for something better.
I offer my condolences and memories of Ms. Halladay. I only hoped that her passing was peaceful.
