Manville – Carl R. Dumas, 50, of Prospect Street, died Monday, April 17, 2017, at Brigham & Women’s Hospital, Boston.
Born in Woonsocket, a son of Beatrice A. (Chevalier) Dumas and the late Roland J. “Wimpy” Dumas, he had lived in Manville for most of his life. He was a graduate of Davies Vocational Technical School, Lincoln, class of 1984.
Mr. Dumas was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during the Persian Gulf. He was a Sergeant First Class, and served as a combat medic, a medical non-commissioned officer in the Military Police, and a recruiter, serving in Honduras, the Netherlands, Saudi Arabia, and Bahrain.
Upon his medical discharge from the Army, he worked for Prospect Development, Manville, and as a courier at Our Lady of Fatima Hospital, North Providence, retiring in 2014. He was part of the original R.I. Chapter of the Patriot Guard Riders.
Besides his mother, he is survived by one daughter, Sara Dumas of Woonsocket; and one son, Ian Dumas of Indiana.
His funeral will be held Saturday, April 22, 2017 at 8:15 a.m. from Bellows Funeral Chapel, 160 River Road, Lincoln, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in St. James Church, 33 Division Street, Manville. Military honors will follow. Relatives and friends are invited, and may call Friday from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Private burial will take place in R.I. Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter, at the convenience of the family.
